Only ONE Home Inspection Company in Florida Appointed to Perform Wind Insurance Inspections Under My Safe Florida Home Program

Jacksonville, FL -- May 8, 2008 -- Ameripro Inspection Corporation, one of Northeast Florida’s largest and oldest inspection companies has been appointed by the state of Florida under the My Safe Florida Home program as a Wind Certification Entity for Regions 1 and 2. Regions 1 and 2 cover the Northeast Florida and Panhandle areas in the state.

Under the My Safe Florida Home program, $250 Million has been allocated for up to 100,000 free inspections and subsequent grants for homeowners across the state. Additional funding is being allocated and new legislation has increased this number to 400,000, contingent upon homeowners registering for the program.

Under this program, Ameripro will be conducting 1,000 inspections per week in Regions 1 and 2, for homeowners who have already been approved and are awaiting their inspection.

This is truly exciting for the real estate market too. The cost of homeowner’s insurance has skyrocketed in recent years. Realtors will be able to help their clients receive lower homeowner’s insurance and hurricane insurance rates. This reduction will go a long way toward maintaining the cost of home ownership.

What is also exciting about this program, according to Rowan, is that for those people wishing to reduce their homeowner’s insurance rate now (without having to wait for the state to approve their application under the My Safe Florida Home program), can pay for their own inspection and still qualify for the grants available, providing they work with a Wind Certification Entity such as Ameripro. At present there are 11 WCEs approved in the state of Florida, Ameripro is the only home inspection firm.

The state hopes to open the doors for new homeowner applicants under the recent legislation in June of this year and will start processing these applications at that time. Do not be confused with other inspections performed outside of the program as these WILL NOT comply with the My Safe Florida Home program and may not qualify your homeowners for grants or reduced insurance premiums.

These inspections can save your clients up to 30% and possibly more on their wind insurance as well as qualify them for a grant from the state of Florida for up to $5,000 toward home improvements to harden their home against hurricanes.

We have just learned (not confirmed) that Citizens insurance has mandated this inspection by a state-approved WCE for EVERY one of their clients in Florida. Because of this decision, many other insurance companies will begin to require this inspection as well.
Ameripro has agreed to honor the same $150 rate for homeowner inspections, as those being conducted for the state.  A possible savings of $400-600 per year for the life of the homeowner insurance, this is definitely a good investment for any homeowner.

Rowan is also working with other local home inspectors in various regions to train and certify them through Ameripro so that they can offer their clients and Realtors the same inspection as part of their home inspection package.  This will ensure that their clients still qualify for grants and insurance benefits.
